Lake County Vote Fraud Charges

The Northwest Indiana Times reports more vote fraud charges have been filed in Lake County. The Times writes:

The Lake County Vote Fraud Task Force has filed 39 felony charges against 11 people it claims is linked to voter fraud in the 2003 Lake County primary election.

Among them are three East Chicago police officers. The task force has now filed charges against 45 people since it began its work two years ago.

Most of those charged stand accused of casting additional votes in precincts other than where they lived. Many Democrats have been skeptical of Secretary of State Todd Rokita's efforts to clean up the state's voter registration rolls by purging invalid registrations. His recent efforts have identified over 1 million, or 1 in 4 of the state's registered voters, as potentially invalid registrations. Rokita, a Republican, is a Lake County native.
