What's A Lie?

I have to laugh at efforts by the campaign of Jim Schellinger to portray a campaign ad by Jill Long Thompson's campaign as misleading. Specifically, the ad says Schellinger "made millions lobbying to raise property taxes to pay for schools he designed." Now, here's the rub. The Thompson TV ad shows new school buildings that were designed by another architect, who happens to support Thompson. Schellinger's campaign can't dispute the fact that he has made millions designing public schools, which were financed by property taxes levied without a referendum. Does it really matter whether the schools shown in the ad were schools he specifically designed, particularly when Schellinger urged the legislature to adjourn this year without tackling property tax reform or requiring public referenda for major school construction projects? The Thompson campaign has apparently corrected the TV ad with the error being attributed to a photographer, but Schellinger is still preparing a response ad to it according to WISH-TV's Jim Shella. It seems to me that the lie in this story is Schellinger's claim that the underlying assertion by Thompson's campaign is untrue.
