Jim Who?

A Hamilton County businessman wants to be the Republican candidate for governor in 2012. I've never heard of him, but here's what Jim Wallace is saying about his gubernatorial ambitions as reported by the Star's Mary Beth Schneider:

Jim Wallace — a businessman, Army veteran and former member of the Fishers and Hamilton County councils — says he is exploring a run for the Republican nomination for governor in 2012.

Wallace becomes the first Republican to throw his hat in the ring, but likely will face an uphill battle against U.S. Rep. Mike Pence. Pence recently said he will not run for president in 2012, but is expected instead to run for governor . . .

In a letter to state, county and local Republican Party officeholders and leaders, Wallace said the state must elect a governor “that understands the work and business challenges in Indiana, and can lead the effort to build Indiana’s economy and quality of life.”

“I am that leader,” Wallace said.

He cited his background attending the military academy at West Point and flying combat helicopters in the Army and graduating from Harvard Business School.

“Closer to home, my experiences as head of strategy at Anthem/Wellpoint, chief of staff of Conseco Health, and founding and building my own company, TWG Capital, from zero to $350 million in assets in ten years, uniquely position me for the economic challenges that lay ahead,” he said.
Wallace has set up a Facebook page called "Families for Wallace."
